🌿 Chinthowa Village News – July 2025 Update
Building Brighter Futures – Together

📚 1,700 Pupils and Still Growing!

We’re thrilled to report that Chinthowa School now has 1,700 pupils on the register! Thanks to our hardworking team of 10 teachers and a dedicated head teacher, the school continues to thrive and grow. Since the arrival of our new head teacher two years ago, educational standards have risen dramatically and the school is now more popular than ever! To meet demand, we now run two classes each for Standards 1 and 2, helping us accommodate the increasing number of young learners joining our school.

🍲 Feeding Programme Reaches Over 1,700 Children Daily.

Our school feeding programme continues to be a lifeline for the children of Chinthowa. We now provide over 1,700 meals every school day to our pupils and local young children. This vital support ensures that every child is nourished and ready to learn.
In addition, the trust continues to care for very elderly villagers, offering regular support to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

🎓 Secondary and University Students Shining Brightly

We are incredibly proud of our secondary school students, the majority of whom are now ranked in the top 10% of academic achievers. Their performance is a testament to their hard work and the strong foundation they received at Chinthowa School.
Our university students are also doing well. We’ll be sending out a full progress report to all sponsors as soon as it becomes available, thank you for supporting their journey!

đź’§ New Solar Irrigation Project Underway

Exciting news! Plans are in motion for a solar-powered irrigation system in the upper lands. This major project will include:
2 new boreholes
6 elevated header tanks
Pumps and pipework to irrigate around 100 acres of land
This initiative is designed to combat the growing impact of climate change, which continues to severely affect agriculture in Malawi, especially for small, independent farmers. With this new system, we aim to increase food security and boost sustainable farming for our village.

🌍 Taking Action in Challenging Times

The past couple of years have been tough, and challenges still lie ahead. But with your continued support, we are taking bold steps toward self-sufficiency. We believe now is the time to act—before it’s too late.

🙏 Thank You!

We couldn’t do any of this without you. Your generosity and ongoing support are changing lives in Chinthowa every day. From the classroom to the fields, from the youngest learners to the eldest villagers, thank you for being part of our journey.
Together, we are building a stronger, more resilient community.

With heartfelt thanks,
The Chinthowa Development Trust Team
